Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner (/vril/ /ˈgri̽ljo̠n/ [abundant; lush; fertile] [stable]) is a subtropical Town located in Smëgumrëchyzlo̠t Parish, Moko̠ë Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner was founded by Felfui Sozrereth, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Overview

Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner was founded durring the early 9th century, by Felfui Sozrereth. The establishment of Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner's construction back out of the project. Felfui Sozrereth pushed on reguardles, and Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner is buildings are arranged arround a network of narrow paverstone streets which form a diagonal shaped grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. Astonishigly, the budget focused millitary grade defenses are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

The first thing you notice about Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner is the large sign at the entrance welcoming you to their humble town. Children come up to you and say hi, some asking if you’ve fought any big monsters, and others just zipping away after their hello. The adults are much the same. By the time you’ve made it a significant way into the town you’ve been invited to a tavern for a pint to drink in exchange for news of the world. You’ve also had no less than three older women give you a sweetroll and direct your attention to their still unmarried children. It would be creepy if it wasn't so sincere.

Cultural Notes

While Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner might ostensibly be ruled by some other power, real control lies with the senior members of the local craft and labor guilds. Their decisions have the practical weight of law, and much of their time and effort is spent squeezing out competitors and parceling out economic opportunities in the community. Some guilds might have little or nothing to do with their original trade, and now exist purely as shells for political influence.

Vril Gri̽ljo̠n Ner's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.
